Adult male Cooper's Hawk flew over to check me out. He had just fed the female. I had just missed her as she flew up into the nest and settled in for the evening 4/24/2019. If you would note the tucked talon under his breat feathers. That is a sign he is relaxed and does not feel threatened in any way. He perched there for several minutes as I composed shots of him.
My neighbor (nest tree) pointed out she had some kind of claws in her mulch bed under a tree. The unfortunate victim of the adult male Cooper's Hawk is an Eastern Screech Owl and its talons 4/25/2019. One of my first photos in this album is of feathers from the same type owl. We did have at least a pair in the neighborhood. I have not heard any lately. I know a cat got one of them around the same time.
